In 2010 we opened the “Patriot House” for our US military veterans and their families in the surrounding D.C. Metropolitan area, including West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio and other areas across the United States. The Patriot House is in River Bend Park that is a secured RV Resort Community opened seven months of the year beginning April 1st and closing November 1st each year. The park is located on the Potomac River and has a swimming pool, camp store, lounge, basketball court, putt-putt golf, boating, and fishing. It is provided free of charge to single service members in pairs or small groups as well as families. Realizing the importance of quality time that many of our veterans are not able to have with their families during medical treatment at local VA hospitals, we offer them a place to stay and enjoy quality time with their families outside the medical facilities. Our families can bring their children and enjoy the beauty that surrounds the eastern panhandle for a long weekend or getaway or longer.
We have exceeded our budget with repairs and additions to the property for our families’ pleasure and we are asking local businesses to consider donating items for our families. These may include golf carts, Polaris’, small mini bikes, and scooters.
