Our History
The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, Inc. is recognized as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit by the IRS and started out in Maryland, but changed our main office to Florida in 2020. We have chapters in TX, and OH, but serve our veteran families throughout the States. Our corporate Fein is: 20-4526203. The CFSRF has been recognized as a charitable organization since October 23, 2003, initially as an unincorporated association and incorporated later in 2005.
The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, Inc. provides emotional, educational and financial support to help US service member’s dependents who have lost a parent or have a severely disabled parent who served in the Gulf, Iraq and/or Afghanistan wars as well as college scholarships for the disabled veteran. Our programs have provided over $5,600,000.00 in College Scholarships, financial, health & well-being, children's enrichment and morale support that have assisted surviving and disabled/wounded veteran's and their dependents who served in the First Gulf, Iraq or Afghanistan wars. The CFSRF from 2003 and into the early part of 2007 operated solely with the help of volunteers; with the majority employed full-time elsewhere. The amount of time required to continue our programs is a full-time job and due to the growth of our programs that changed in 2007. Over the first seven years we managed to keep our administrative expenses between 3 – 8% by maintaining everything in house: printing, web design, bookkeeping, correspondence, etc. Our goal is keep our total management and administrative costs to a minimum and to apply for grants that would help cover our administrative expenses so that we can remain a constant in the lives of our military families. It is unfortunate that after the return of our troops from Iraq the public has seemingly forgotten our families. It has been a struggle keeping up with the many pressing financial difficulties our families continue to face and the steady decline in donations. If you or your firm is interested in helping us with these costs, volunteering on one of our committees or feel you are able to help in any other capacity, please let us know. We are always in need of volunteers that are interested in helping us further our mission, representing us in different Cities and States. Military veterans are encouraged to join us. Our US military members are returning home with loss of limbs, eyesight, scarred by burns and injuries so traumatic that they are unable to return to their lives as they knew it. There are those who are incapacitated by direct injuries and those whose injuries are unseen often suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries. Unfortunately the rise of suicide deaths among our military is on the increase and their children suffer the consequences after their parent has returned home. These children and others do not qualify for the usual death benefits as a child whose parent was killed as a result of his or her service, however, they have needs also. Many of our suicidal parents have suffered from the after effects of the war, some have tried to get help and others have not made it to that step yet. They are tormented by the sights and sounds of these wars and it saddens us that there are more and more who become homeless and live at or below the poverty level. Our organization finally made a decision to open up our programs in 2010 to help children whose parent served in either of these wars regardless of the cause of death. They deserve our help and we could not find it in our heart to say no. |
We have begun to open up our Adopt a Family special program for the entire year not just during the Holidays so
that we can increase our funding, which would enable us to help the families that are not eligible for assistance under our programs, however, whose loved one served in the Gulf, Iraq or Afghanistan wars and are experiencing financial difficulties. Many of these veteran's are still waiting for VA disability ratings and deserve our support. The purpose of the Adopt a Family special funds is so that we don't have to say no to these children who would have otherwise qualified had his or her father been killed in action or as a result of hostile activity. Our programs have expanded as we have grown and although the Adopt a Family special program is not presently one of our regular programs it does serve the needs of surviving children of our military affected by either conflict when they have exhausted other avenues for financial funding. It saddens us when we have to turn down a young man or woman who is struggling to improve their own lives through higher education; especially those who father or mother served and dedicated his/her time and life to serving in our Armed Forces and those whose under age children are suffering after his/her parent passes away after returning home. Our dream is to help honor their parent's service in our Armed Forces and help them alleviate the financial burdens and obstacles that may impair their ability to reach their dreams and goals; the same dreams and goals their beloved parent would have stood by and watched them achieve had they had the opportunity many of us civilians have had. If you would like to contribute to a specific program, i.e., educational, financial, surviving, disabled, morale support you may do so simply by request. You may also specify Adopt A Family if you chose, regardless of your decision we appreciate your interest in learning more about our organization. We are committed to helping provide emotional, educational and financial support to our military and their families and are so very grateful for the support of the public. We truly appreciate your support and interest in learning more about our mission. Messages of Gratitude
I wanted to let you know I received the letter and the money. I just want to say thank you for everything. And I really appreciate all that you have done for us. And thank you so much for listening to me. And sorry I cried. I plan on sending you pictures of both of the children. I will most certainly keep in contact with you. Bless you and everything you do. RN I would like to take this time to give a Huge Thanks to you and your Amazing Organization for providing assistance with my son's orthodontics bill. We had fallen behind with several payments due to ongoing issues with our vehicle and it was just one thing after another from that point which resulted in our son have to stop receiving care until we were back on track with our payments. One day I happened to do an online search to see if there were any programs that would specifically assist with our current need and that's how I found out about CFSRF. I completed the application and I was contacted by Ms. Becky Campbell whom has a heart of Gold, she told me that the entire bill would be taken care of, I had tears of Joy and had such a Great Relief! Thank You so much CFSRF! You have been such a Awesome Blessing for my Family! God Bless!! RF |
