MESSAGES FROM OUR FAMILIES & SOME OF OUR FRIENDS
I was having a difficult time after returning home from deployment and began to isolate once depression sat in. Feeling alone and misunderstood by those who hadn't been in the service; family and friends I began to drink and slowly spiraled into a deeper depression and wanted to give up. A brother I had served with encouraged me to go to the VA and I finally did only to discover that I was one in thousands waiting in line for help. After initiating contact with them and filing the numerous forms they required I still am waiting for help. My brother reached out to me again and then asked if I would be willing to speak with Becky at Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, I finally agreed. She called and after breaking down the barriers I had put up I finally realized that not only did have choices, but I had someone who I had never met reach out, listen and offer me solid answers and good choices so that I could move forward with my life. I began school again and am just recently beginning to spend time with close family and friends. She said "one day at a time", and that's what I am doing. Everyday I get closer to realizing just one dream and doing my best to be positive is a day closer to survival. Thank you there really are no words to express my gratitude for this organization and Becky there have been so many doors that were closed not just on me, but many of my other brothers. I hope to be able to give a little back in the future to this compassionate and heartfelt organization. They are the most generous organization I've dealt with. When my best friend from the Marines died this year they paid for my plane ticket so I could attend the funeral and pay my respects to his family. They are an enormous part of our Fallujah reunions and I can't thank them enough. The Children Of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund has been absolutely amazing! I lost my father at a very young age during OEF. Since that time, I have had to prioritize working in order to help support my family. While conducting a web search, I stumbled across the website for CFSRF, which seemed almost too good to be true. I reached out via email and received such a heart-warming response. Each ensuing encounter with the CFSRF, and Mrs. Campbell in particular, has been unbelievably pleasant. With the assistance and support of CFSRF, I have been very fortunate to be able to continue my academic pursuit of a biomedical degree as well as continued personal growth here at NCCU. For that opportunity, I want to personally thank the CFSRF for their kindness and willingness to help me achieve my academic goals. Glancing at some of the other postings, I see that the good deeds performed by the CFSRF ranges far and wide. Please continue the outstanding work. Thank you immensely!!! My Dad died in 2006 when his Mgator hit an Ied. As difficult and sad as his loss was, It would not be the last tragic thing to happen to my family. A few years after my Father died, my Mom would become sick. Then I was diagnosed with a tumor near my brainstem. My Mom and I have continued to fight for our lives for what feels like an eternity. Mrs. Campbell has never stopped helping us, ever. She has done so much for my family. This organization has become part of my family. Words fail to express my gratitude and the love I have for Becky. She is one in a million. We love you Mrs. Campbell This organization truly cares for the families of the fallen. They GO above and beyond. My son who is the son of a fallen hero was shot on good Friday of this year. The CEO and founder came from her home to be with us I myself a 90%disabled veteran HOW I would have gotten through this I DON'T know PLEASE DONATE this is a small orginazation WITH a huge heart!!! There's no better organization out there that helps military families especially the children's. CFSRF will always have a special place in my heart An absolutely wonderful organization here. Dedicated to the families of our nation's fallen hero's. The staff I have had the opportunity of meeting have been an absolute pleasure to be around. God bless this organization of selfless individuals. This organization really goes out of their way to help. They have always been there for the Fallujah vets, and their families. We owe them a great Debt of gratitude. Thank you. I am so thankful for Children Of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. Without them my mortgage wouldn't have been able to be paid and our children wouldn't have had a Christmas. Last year my husband had a mental break down and ended up in a psych ward right after Thanksgiving. They were there for me and my kids while he was away when we had no one else. Ms. Becky and the CFSRF has been an amazing entity in my and my daughter's life in the past 10 years. The foundation helped my daughter and I after Katrina washed away my entire house a year after I lost my husband in the war on terrorism. They have also been a tremendous blessing for my child during Christmas. She truly tries to help everyone she can. God bless her and this foundation. CFSRF helped me finance and pursue my goal of attending a prestigious academic institution. I am very grateful! After my husband died in Afghanistan I became disabled after multiple car accidents and was left to raise my daughter on my own, I lost my job and couldn't pay the bills. My daughter and I had to go to the local food pantry for them to give us food weekly, I was behind on all the bills... I never received the life insurance given to most widows after death of the husbands. My daughter and I were barley making it by until I found this blessing... Becky and Monica have been exactly that nothing but a BLESSING..They paid all my bills I was behind on so I can buy food and other necessities we needed. They even helped us with our Thanksgiving dinner!! They didn't stop there and gave my daughter the best Christmas ever. Without them helping us out I'm sure we would've been in a much different position. I couldn't thank you enough. God bless you Becky and Monica. I'm sure my husband was smiling down from heaven for helping his girls out. I was almost KIA in Iraq, and needed a brain surgery upon returning home from deployment. I was eventually put through the Wounded Warrior program which still left me stuck in the famous VA backlog..During the VA backlog the winter here in Oregon got cold leaving my family without the available funds to pay for firewood. The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief not only helped my family get through the winter with firewood, but they made sure that we got plenty of wood and in a timely fashion. They were such a lifesaver in this wounded veterans time of need..From the bottom of out hearts they are just amazing thank you Children of the Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund.. Amazing organization. I don't have the words for what they have done for me and my family. They go above and beyond the call of duty to help veterans in need. This letter is hard to put into words; people go about their busy lives seldom stopping to wonder. "Should we have taken out extra life insurance?". Or "what life might be like if all the family they know might one day, just disappear?". We might watch the news for the weather and filter out the world news or the shooting that happen across town. We might even have a cousin, struggling with an issue that we know we should call but we will get around to it, sometime soon, sometime. We haven't forgotten them. We are all just so busy! I confess I have been so busy at times trying to fill the gaps in life that I once took an entire cruise thinking that one organization sent my young sons and I to meet a dozen other people busily trying to network a new normal for our lives after a tidal wave of trauma had swept my little family out to sea. I wrote a long article of amazement and gratitude for all I had learned on the cruise. I sent it to the wrong organization. I made a few friends on that cruise but 10 years later; there is only one faithful person that has stood by, checked in and consistently stood in the gap. Becky Campbell inquired about scholarship funding when I was going through college and not really making ends meet. She provided scholarships that supported when no one else understood. She sent Mother's Day gifts when my boys were too young to buy them alone. She shared the gift of generosity with others by pairing my boys with other families during the Christmas holidays. When my mother died she knew the right words to put into the card that I held at yet another funeral. When the boys got older and interested in sports she was their sponsor the long distance cheerleader that found the way for them to compete at nationals. We don't have family we have Becky Campbell and the children of the fallen. Not because a soldier in my family sacrificed for his country and not because there is a charitable organization but because Becky Campbell stood to mind the gap over the long and busy highway we have traveled together. We don't write letters anymore we text we email we call on holidays and when we can't get through the tears and type with our thumbs we use voice command and we talk very slow. Autocorrect does not share the tears or the sniffles and it doesn't mind how long you have to pause to regain your composure. See there really are no words except to say that Becky Campbell and the children of the fallen mind the gap and filled the supporting rafters of our house. Thank you. Thank you. I have lost family, I have had fellow veterans commit suicide in recent years and Becky’s wisdom and support has granted encouragement and has helped me to reach out to give back and return to the world, to accept the ups and downs of helping other veterans and to take care of myself and find the joy of watching my children grow. I can't say these things about any member of my family. I really respect her ability to focus on what is empathy. She has uplifted my boys in turn in so many ways that they remind me often of all the happy memories Becky has encouraged us to share. We have so many important accomplishments and now we slow down & appreciate this organization. It has meant so much to have Becky in our lives. I have never seen a more giving Charity go above and beyond for the families. They not only do what they say in their mission, but do more actually. We could have never survived through our hardships with out Children of Fallen soldiers and will always be eternally grateful for everything they have done for us. There is not enough space in here to express my gratitude for Children of Fallen soldier's. There honestly is no other foundation that goes above and beyond what Ms. Campbell and her organization does. They help on a very personal level. You aren't just an applicant, you become family to this foundation. I pray that people can donate to them, they could really use it. They stand by their mission with love, compassion and understanding the needs of the families. |
My son lost his father in Iraq October 6 2003 when he was four years old. he and i were not married i myself was in the military and moved around alot. The fund treated us like family during the first years of the war single unwed mothers where not treated very kindly by the military THIS organization was the ONLY one who treated my son like a son of a fallen hero. Darian "DJ" was a shy kid really didn't talk much Rebecca Campbell the CEO of the organization would call him and talk to him often the fund even arranged for him to go to a grief camp and meet and bond with children like him he opened up about his dad made friends and the MOST special thing was arranging for him too visit his father's grave in New Jersey and see his grandfather hadn't seen him IN OVER six years and hasn't seen him since the fund blessed us his grandfather who lives in Peru only comes to the United states twice a year for veterans doctors appointments. as a 90% disabled veteran there was NO way i could have made that happen now at 15 he is an honor student outgoing young man with dreams of going to the university of Georgia to become a lawyer.i pray the WONDERFUL Americans of THIS great land will continue to help so these babies can continue to make their fallen heros proud. GOD knows where we would be without this fund our home was robbed they TOOK everything EVEN our food i didn't know what to DO we were sleeping with friends for fear of the robbers coming back. This fund gave us food helped us find shelter suffering from PTSD, lung problems, and anemic I myself was fading this fund saved our lives. GOD bless the ones who give and those who want to give but can't FREEDOM ISN'T FREE IT COMES WITH A PRICE 2LT RICHARD TORRES PAID THAT PRICE! !!
After losing 50+ Marines in the battle of Fallujah, iraq many of us felt lost and confused about how to deal with PTSD without our brothers to help us cope. We left the Marines and returned to our home towns spread out across the country. It felt like our family had been broken up from a bad divorce or something. A few of the men put together a reunion, but without funding it wasn't going to be much, and few could afford to go. CFSRF stepped up and provided the funding and organization to make our reunion unforgettable! They even flew many of the disabled Marines to the event (myself included). Miss Becky became our adopted battalion mom and gave all of us hope, pride, and esprit de corps that so many of us needed. She has helped us reestablish our bonds and heal the invisible wounds of war. We are grateful and forever in her debt! Semper Fi Becky Dear CFSRF, I am writing today to thank you. From May of 2014 through August of 2014 YOU helped save my husband's life. You gave me and my children a place to stay while he was an inpatient at the Martinsburg WV. You allowed us for that entire time to stay at the Patriot House in Falling Waters, WV (which by the way was such an amazing experience). You were the ONLY organization there that helped us get through it all. We only had child support and $543 was NOT enough to survive at all. We were waiting for his claim with the VA to be processed. If it had not of been for you, I think my husband would have died and our family would have been on the streets. You paid ALL the bills and kept us alive. All 6 of us are so grateful for all of you at CRSRF. Becky Campbell, you are an amazing woman. You PERSONALLY came to meet our family. You took the time to help my husband through the most trying time of his life due to his PTSD. You have been a mentor, a coach, a financial blessing, a MOTHER, when everyone else turned their backs to us because we were waiting on benefits. What you have done for our family, we will never forget. When we couldn't afford Christmas, you gave our children Christmas. You have gone above and beyond what I could ever expect or feel we deserve and you will never know just how much that help meant, means, and always will mean to our family. YOU have given us LIFE! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We hope to someday be just like you! Your faith in us has helped to form who we are today, almost 2 years later! We thank God for CFSRF and all of the staff, Becky, Lilly, Monica, Cathi, the volunteers who talk to you just to help ease your mind, your pain, through it all! YOU GUYS ROCK!! CFSRF is a wonderful organization of caring individuals that want to do everything in their power to help meet the needs of military families who have lost a service member or are otherwise affected by combat disabilities. In our case, their assistance has been through a gracious scholarship offering to allow my daughter to pursue a future to brighten the lives of others and hopefully someday help future heroes get back on their feet through Physical Therapy. But please read the other postings as CFSRF clearly supports our veteran families through many other hardships that could have directed their lives down a completely different path if it weren't for their help. Monica has been a pleasure to work with, and portrays the heart of the organization who genuinely cares about those they support. If you are able, please help to support CFSRF financially so they are able to continue stepping in to make a difference at these critical times in the lives of families who have already given of themselves for their country. The help my family received from this charity restored hope for our family. Words can never express the sincere gratitude we have. Becky Campbell and this organization have done an amazing job helping soooo many veterans and the families of the fallen. The most amazing staff and organization I have encountered Thank you Becky and CFSRF for all you do for Gold Star Families. We appreciate all of your hard work, love and support. Our family has known Becky and CFSRF since around 2005. They provided our family with financial support shortly after loosing my husband when things were very uncertain along with help for college. It's simple...Becky and CFSRF cares about military families and tries to help them any way that she can. On May 8, 2014 my husband was Admitted to the inpatient PTSD program in Martinsburg WV. That is 8 hours away from home! Becky Campbell, stepped up to the plate, and gave me and our children a place to stay at the Patriot House and gave them a very memorable summer. She was there when nobody else was! She never left our side! CFSRF is an amazing organization and they go above and beyond for their Military & Survivors! They helped keep my husband alive! Thank you for all you have done! During our hardest moments we were so blessed to be helped by Children of fallen soldiers. They helped us save our house. My husband was KIA in 2004. If it weren't for CFSRF my son would not have had a Christmas after his death. This organization has gone above and beyond in helping me and my son. When I was laid off work a few years back they came through and paid my bills and helped prevent me from being evicted and my lights turned off. Ms. Campbell is one of the most generous, giving persons I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Without this organization, I am unsure where I would be right now. There are few organizations that I can say help out as much as the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund does. They have impacted my life in ways that are inexpressible through words. I owe them so much. A wonderful organization. Has done a lot of good for veterans and their families. They helped me when I needed it. They worked quickly and diligently to get me the help I needed, without making me feel worse about asking for help. They will always be recommended by me. Once upon a time, my family and I were going through what most injured combat veteran go through when getting out of service, is the not be able to get a job, selling everything you own just to be able to feed your family. We were trained by the best in the field, we cherish every waking day in uniform, being around your brothers and sister everyday , made our day. We trained as we fought, we fought as we trained. Military has a way of thinking, to accomplish the mission, we adapted, and over come. Once your out of the military, the uniform is out too. the brotherhood that was a lived by for the last 12 years out the door. You dont have access to the options once there. the family once had, all taken away because the contract is done. But you see, not for Children of fallen soldier relief fund. this organization is the definltion of family. They are their even if you own family is not. I am so glad that the foundation was able to assist my family through financial crisis. with the schools turning over to computers, With their genorosity my children are able to do their home work with the foundation's donation. i am in debted to the foundation for many reasons, it sure would of been a lot more difficult of my family and i if we were not intruduced to the foundation thank you for all you do. This is truly an amazing foundation. I would not be able to attend school right now if it was not for this foundation and the very generous donors. This is truly an organization for the people. They have helped out my friend and her family with the genuine selfless spirit in which one would want to treat the families of our soldiers. Children of Fallen Soldiers it is a great organization, the board members are truly dedicated to our children. I am very proud of the organization for their hard-work. dedication and love they have shown to me and my children. My Son Andrew received financial aid to pay off his music production degree. He had received VA assistence but Children of Fallen Soldiers stepped up without hessitation to pay off the remainder portion of his tuition. Last November I was given the opportunity to spend time with members of the organization, I witnessed their true dedication and hard work to continue to help so many more people. As a parent I am very greateful for the tremendous help(gift) that was given to our family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you will always be in our hearts. I love this foundation, I know all they do is truly for the service of those who gave their lives serving us. I gave 4 stars because the 5th star represents the MIA's. You are truly a five star organization! I am so impressed with this organization. They are always coming up with new ideas to try and raise more money and awareness for our veterans and their families. Their generosity knows no bounds. These people work day in and day out to help those in need. Absolutely wonderful people and organization. The girls at CFSRF work very hard helping our military families we love giving to a real charity whose hearts and dedication are in the right place! A Charity Providing help to children left behind. CFSRF has provided college scholarships and more to those in need of financial assistance, not to mention the guidance and support to the spouses and veterans Becky provides. This is a wonderful charity and an awesome person behind it. I have seen first hand the work that this organization Children of the Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund has done. They have helped so many veterans and their families when they had no where else to turn. The VA itself takes so long to get any help from. CFSRF has not only financially helps these families but they support them at all hours of the day and night emotionally. The stories that they hear and the tears that they cry along with these families is heart wrenching. CFSRF is an organization that I am very proud to support and be a part of. They are truly a blessing to all troops and their families. |
