The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund was founded to help support surviving U.S. Military children who have lost a parent in the Afghanistan or Iraq wars by providing them with College Grants. Our College Grant program has been expanded to include both children and spouses who have either lost a loved one as a result of these wars or have a severely disabled parent or spouse who was injured during their deployment to either war. Our second objective is to help the surviving members of these families who are in need of assistance with housing, repairs, utilities, medical expenses, groceries, clothing, school supplies and other expenses deemed necessary in order to provide them with some support and alleviate their need. 2005 has brought about many natural disasters, our citizens have held their heads high during their struggles with loss of home and belongings due to the many hurricanes, tornados and other disasters. Our Katrina Fund is there to help military families that have been displaced and those that have returned from overseas to find their lives in utter turmoil. Many of the residents from Louisiana were serving overseas and were brought home only to find their homes devastated and their families displaced. These families sacrificed everything, they spent months worrying about their loved ones during his or her deployment, many spending every traditional holiday away, they missed the birth of their first-born's, the birthdays, athletic games their children partook in and some were gone long enough to miss all of the traditional holidays we so often take for granted. There are those that lost their husbands and fathers, but kept their spirits high despite Katrina's wrath. We are proud to know these wonderful families for they are our brothers and sisters as well. We are there to help them during their times of struggle and with the support of the public we have been able to give them a "gift" back just as their loved one has done for us. Freedom is something we can never take for granted, it is only given to us by the self-sacrificing members of our military. Many generations have fought great battles to ensure that those at home can continue to live their lives in liberty. The battles fought have left many children without a parent and their dedication to our country should not be forgotten. We are a non-partisan organization and whether you are for or against war we believe you do not have to take sides to help our families. We are determined to provide emotional and financial support to our service members and their families and encourage you to continue to support them through prayers. Our organization is comprised of an all volunteer Board, we do so willingly in an effort to provide as much financial support possible. All of our web site design, printing, mailers are done in-house. None of us are paid for our time and we give it willingly, just as the many service members past and present have given their time and their lives for our families and our future children. None of us can replace the emptiness that remains after a loss. We can bring hope and dreams to those affected and offer our time to do so. We are simply individuals that wish to offer a gift to those who have provided us with the most wonderful gift of all, Freedom.
