JAMES 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund is recognized as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit by the IRS and is based in the D.C. Metropolitan area. Our Mission is to provides support to surviving U.S. Military children and spouses that have lost a loved one in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars or those that have sustained a serious disability and are in need of financial assistance.

A proud 82nd Airborne Mom and an Aunt to a United States Marine, Rebecca Campbell founded the CFSRF in October 2003. Her nephew had served in Afghanistan and her son was deployed to Iraq in February 2003. Realizing the daily sacrifices made by our service members and their families, Rebecca began decorating and sending gift baskets full of purchased items and items donated by family and friends overseas to the troops in 2001.

After her son was deployed she envisioned military children left without a parent. These children of our fallen were in her and her husbands thoughts and after a short discussion she decided to plan an event to help provide college assistance to one or perhaps two children. That was the idea in 2003. The reality is she cannot find it in her heart to stop.

The CFSRF through it's fundraising events held by others and the generosity of the public made awards totaling a little over $44,000.00 in 2005. An additional $37,000.00 has been set aside for recurring grants. These funds will enable the spouses and children that have received an award to continue with his or her education. The CFSRF is comprised solely of volunteers; no director, member, volunteer or otherwise receives compensation for their involvement. They are committed to helping provide emotional and financial support to our military and their families.

The support of the public has been very evident the last several years. Many other individuals, families, firms and businesses have contributed with donations in memory of those who have served. Many family members who proudly served in past conflicts have passed away and whose family members asked that contributions be made in memory of their loved ones. Servicemembers and contractors who have lost their lives during the recent conflicts, and those without a military background whose family members made a decision to help the children of our fallen. Couples with upcoming weddings have donated to the CFSRF in honor of their guests, young women reaching the age of sixteen opted to forgo their birthday presents and instead asked their family and friends to make a donation on their behalf. Young children from the ages of three years old and up have asked family members to donate to the CFSRF during the holidays, still others that have sold lemonade, their Grandfather's honey, popcorn, solicited friends and neighbors, sent in cash donations from $1.00 and up to help other children. School children and their families have donated funds every year in lieu of purchasing gifts for their Coach. Elementary, Middle and High School children and staff have held fundraiser's throughout the States to help other children. College students have organized and planned 5K runs on their campus just to help those whose parent(s) have lost their lives during their service to our Country. It is evident to us that the love and support of our military and their families is strong. All that have sacrificed their time in planning these events are part of the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund family and we honor them here.
